Mamelodi Sundowns football club’s head coach Rulani Mokwena reportedly got a new assistant coach to add to his technical team.
According to a reliable insider, the club’s free-kick specialist Michael Loftman has been given a new role.
Loftman has been appointed as Mokwena’s second assistant after Manqoba Mngqithi is the first assistant coach alongside Mokwena at the Brazilians.
The source revealed that Loftman has already been appointed by the club as the second assistant to Rulani although the club are yet to officially confirm the appointment of Loftman as the assistant.
The insider also added that Michael Loftman will be playing a double role at the club as he will still serve as the free-kick specialist as well as being the second assistant to Mokwena.
The coaching setup at Mamelodi Sundowns football club changed when Steve Komphela left the Chloorkop base outfit to join Swallows FC as their head coach.
When Komphela was at the Brazilians, he was the senior team coach while Manqoba Mngqithi was the first team coach with Rulani Mokwena the head coach.
Since Komphela left the club and left the senior team coach role vacant, there’s no longer a senior team mentor or a first team mentor.
Manqoba Mngqithi is now just the assistant coach it head coach Rulani Mokwena which is a more regular coaching setup to what Sundowns had last season.
Hopefully now Mokwena will have two assistants to aid him with the coaching duties at the club.
Rulani are still unbeaten this season as the head coach with three narrow wins in all competitions.
