Kaizer Chiefshave handed a lifeline to one of their academy graduates Sebelo Radebe after he was tipped to leave the club.

Chiefs are understood to have made a U-turn on the future of Radebe, who was understood to be on his way out of the club at the start of the season.

He is now seen as a future project by Amakhosi and he could feature prominently in the forthcoming season.

Touted as a bright prospect for the Glamour Boys upon his promotion to the first team in 2021, ‘Bibo’ featured just three times last season, all as a substitute, which fuelled speculation that he is headed for the exit door at the club, albeit on loan.

Media sources in the know have now informed Soccer Laduma that the 23-year-old appears to have been handed a lifeline by Chiefs’ new head coach, Molefi Ntseki.

Ntseki had recently worked with him at the club academy and he knows the qualities whichhe brings to the team.

A source has revealed that Ntseki, who is renowned for his work with the youth, wants the youngster to prove himself in the club’s set-up and included him in Amakhosi’s recent trips to Nelspruit, Tanzania and now to Botswana.

There was talk of a possible move to Stellenbosch FC on loan for the 2023/24 campaign, but indications are that the midfielder is likely to stay on for the time being.

Having broken into the club’s first team under Stuart Baxter, Radebe was tied down on a long-term deal until June 2026 and will be hoping to stake a claim in a new-look Chiefs side this coming season.
